Since July
2004 I am one of the ENCODErs
in
Roderic
Guigó's lab in Barcelona,
Catalonia, Spain.
What I do for a living is called bioinformatics,
which
consists
in using/writing computer programs to (try to) make
sense of biological data. Hence its name.
ENCODE (ENCyclopedia Of DNA Elements) is what keeps me
busy here. It's a huge international consortium, funded by the US
National Insitutes of Health, that aims at finding and analyzing all
functional elements in the human genome.
If you'd like to know more specific details about my work
(which
means you are either my mom, or a disturbingly idle
internet passer-by), well, thank you for your interest. One day I'll
write a paragraph about it, but for the time being, you'll have to
check out my publication
list to get a
taste of it.
